Doug Nielsen has a gift for connecting to the human spirit, instilling hope, and inspiring peak performance and team work. He has been instrumental in assisting thousands of individuals overcome self-imposed limitations and accelerate personal achievement. Doug infuses his audiences with energy and enthusiasm. In working with him, participants learn how to gain control of their lives and develop the motivation to consistently succeed personally and professionally.
Challenges can either canker or refine the soul. While growing up, Doug’s father had a drinking problem. As a by-product, Doug struggled in school and became the “lead screamer” in a heavy metal rock band. However, his mother and a caring member of his church helped him through many challenging times and instilled in Doug the drive to turn challenges into opportunities.
Real world experience reveals the need for ownership. In Doug’s experiences as a former COO and as a private practice psychotherapist, he observed that organizations and individuals become easily stuck in reactive, conflict-filled, powerless states of mind. After a life altering conversation with Dr. Victor Frankl -- concentration camp survivor an author of Man’s Search for Meaning, Doug discovered his own ability to “take life by the helm.” Since that time, he has made it his life’s work to teach others how to regain control and be at the helm of their lives.
Doug renews himself through close family relationships, his religious faith, and through donating time to teach karate to underprivileged youth.
